About Rose Yannuzzi

Rose Yannuzzi is a New York based watercolor artist. She focuses on landscapes, seascapes, and any subjects that reflect the beauty of the natural world.

As a child, she was immersed in art of various forms, first with music, then with writing, and subsequently photography. Her interest in painting developed later in life. For most of Rose's work life, she focused on writing and took up photography as a hobby. Her interest in painting developed over the last 10 years, based on inspiration from the beautiful and intricately detailed paintings of her late brother-in-law, Prescott Junta, who was an accomplished oil painter and watercolorist.

Rose is self-taught and has studied art with Arthur Gilmore, a watercolor artist, and Peggy Dressel, a watercolor and pastel artist. Most recently she has studied with artists Max Horbund and Mel Stabin. While her focus has been on watercolor painting, she has also done work with pastels, charcoal, and Chinese brush painting. She has studied photography with G. Steve Jordan and Norma Brown Hill. She is a member of the Ridgewood Art Institute, the Edward Hopper House, and an associate member of the North East Watercolor Society (NEWS). She has exhibited her work at juried competitions at the Ridgewood Art Institute, the Edward Hopper House, St. Catherine's 11th Annual Photo, Art, and Poetry Exhibition, and the NEWS 2010 Annual Member Show. In May 2010, she had a solo exhibit of her watercolor paintings and selected photographs at the Suffern Free Library, Suffern, NY. She is currently a member of the Piermont Flywheel Gallery in Piermont, NY.

"Based on my interest and love of nature and my training as a biologist, most of my subjects are landscapes, seascapes, flowers, and any subjects that reflect the beauty of the natural world. I try to impart a sense of spirituality and the poetic beauty of nature in my art. Ultimately, I paint that which intrigues me and speaks to me in a very personal and emotional way.
To lessen the chaos of everyday life, I create paintings and photographs that provide a sense of tranquility, serenity, and peacefulness to those who view them. My art and photographs capture a moment in time that will never occur again."

Artist's Statement: The natural world has such a diversity of beauty. I try to impart the sense of spirituality and the poetic beauty of nature in my art. I draw my inspiration from landscapes I see every day and those I experience when I travel. To lessen the chaos of everyday life, I create paintings and photographs that provide a sense of tranquility, serenity, and peacefulness to those who view them.
